Production Services - Calcium Sulfate Scale Removal Gyp X-1: Gyp X-1 is a non-toxic, environmentally friendly solution that has the ability to dissolve and break down extremely hard and dense calcium sulfate scales without dissolving any limestone matrix. This ability to dissolve calcium carbonate can greatly minimize aquifer contact in reservoirs containing bottom water, thus eliminating concerns of watering out the well. Gyp X-2: Gyp X-2 is a blend of chelants and sequestrants designed to completely dissolve extremely hard and dense calcium sulfate scales that cannot be removed by converters or other calcium sulfate solvents. Gyp X-2 has the ability to dissolve more than 25 kg of calcium sulfate per cubic meter of treating solution. Aromatic solvents are often used as a pre-flush to remove waxes, asphaltenes and hydrocarbons, which helps maximize Gyp X-2/scale contact. When placed at the interval of interest, Gyp X-2 should be allowed to soak for a minimum of 24 hours.
