Selective Stimulation
Trican’s C2C selective stimulation straddle tool is an innovation in coiled tubing stimulation, suitable for deep horizontal or vertical wells. As with Trican’s previous straddle seal tools, C2C allows repeatable, selective isolation of downhole intervals for pinpoint stimulation treatments.
Key to the tool’s success in deep applications is C2C’s unique pressure equalization valve. After stimulation treatments are performed in one zone, the pressure in the straddle tool is equalized to that of the annulus, allowing the cups to quickly relax. The straddle tool is moved up or down hole, the next zone is isolated and the treatment is repeated. The pressure equalization valve provides the added benefit of reducing wear on the cups, increasing their longevity, and saving time and money. Features and benefits include:
Trican’s Straddle Seal Ensemble is the key to zonal isolation. The straddle assembly is positioned across the zone of interest so the stimulation treatment can be focused there. The cups contain the fracture within the desired zone, while in close proximity to an adjacent zone.

Trican’s Straddle Various features moveable cup technology that allows any length of interval to be selectively stimulated using coiled tubing. Cup to cup spacing is not limited by the length or number of pup joints on location, or crane reach. The top cup can be placed directly on the coiled tubing, allowing any length of interval to be isolated and treated, independent of crane or spacing using pup joints.
The injector is positioned close to the ground, eliminating the need for lengthy lubricators and long reach cranes. A work window is used so the well can be contained, and access is gained to install the top cup directly on the coiled tubing string at any location. Straddle Various’ versatility makes it possible to treat intervals on coil that previously could only be isolated by ball fracs.
