Nitrified fluids are often pumped in under-pressured wells to ensure full returns to surface during workover operations. On some operations where downhole motors or jetting tools are employed, the use of nitrogen gas will reduce the efficiency of their performance. Trican’s patented Motor Gas Separators can be used to separate the nitrogen from the fluid phase before it reaches the BHA (usually a mud motor or jetting tool). Bypassing the gas allows operation of the motor or tool at the designed fluid flow rate, while pumping nitrogen at the rates required to ensure full returns in a low-pressure well.
