Fracturing - Gel Pac Frac™ "Isolate Your Fracs More Effectively”
Trican’s patent pending Gel-Pac-Frac™ is an economical method of isolating and fracturing various intervals in horizontal, vertical or deviated wells. This proven technology isolates numerous intervals to ensure the same part of the well is not refractured during subsequent stages of the treatment.
Viscous gel plugs are used to act as a straddle packer in a wellbore while a diverter tool directs the fluid against the formation. The fracturing fluid displaces a small amount of the gel-pac-plug away from the formation face and then initiates a fracture into the formation.
The gel-pac-plugs are designed to withstand the pressure created in the well at the formation while the fracturing treatment is performed, therefore preventing any movement of the fracturing fluid to another part of the well. As a result, the fracturing treatment is contained between the gel-pac-plugs, which will break overnight leaving no additional equipment or restrictions down hole.
