Why Trican? I chose Trican because at the time it was considered a smaller company. Coming from a small town, I was attracted to a concept of a community where you work closely together and get to know people on a personal level.

Role: I am an alliance engineer. I work in our client’s office. There is a fine balance between working with clients and working for clients. As an alliance engineer, you represent Trican and often need to take on the roles of a technical specialist, salesman, coordinator and accountant. It’s a high energy job with a lot of variety and a good mix of technical desk time and time spent in discussion. It is hard not to be involved with work as many weekends are spent satellite fracing. You take time off when you are not needed by the client, but in this busy industry that can be hard to find.

Career Path: I came to Trican fresh out of the University of Saskatchewan and was immersed in the oil and gas industry. There was a lot to learn in the first few months and the learning hasn’t stopped. Almost everyday I’m faced with something new which keeps work and life interesting.
