“At Trican, we create success through the collective strength of our employees”
“I like the integrity of the company the most.”
Name: Jim Beddow Job title: Training Manager Location: Calgary Age: 47
Interests: I have 2 grown children, like to work on old cars, travel, camp and golf. Joined Trican: 1999
Why Trican? Trican was known in the industry as a company that was going places. I knew who ran the company and what their reputation was and trusted that it would be a great place to work. It was not the salary that attracted me initially as I knew that the money would come with results but the opportunity to work for a new and innovative company was very exciting to me.
Role: I am the training manager for the company. I direct and develop training courses over a wide variety of subjects both operational and safety based. I work with a small team that includes regular training department employees as well as people from other departments and outside sources. I’m treated very well as an employee and have always felt like part of the team.
Career Path: I started out with Trican as a cement supervisor in Lloydminster base and worked as a field supervisor, trainer and training coordinator prior to the position I now have. I enjoy this work because of the challenges it presents and the opportunity it allows me to have a part in making our company and our industry better, safer and more efficient. Eventually I would like to either go back to international work or base management.
